The JSV Flight Logger is JetStream Virtual’s custom-built flight tracking application. It replaces third-party ACARS clients with a purpose-built tool that integrates directly with our website, offering advanced telemetry capture, automatic phase detection, live weather, and a real-time scoring system.
Supported Simulators
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 — via SimConnect (requires MSFS SDK SimConnect)
- Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 — via SimConnect (requires MSFS SDK SimConnect)
- X-Plane 11 — via built-in UDP DataRef protocol
- X-Plane 12 — via built-in UDP DataRef protocol
System Requirements
| Operating System | Windows 10 or later (64-bit) |
|---|---|
| Disk Space | ~150 MB installed |
| Network | Internet connection (offline buffering available for mid-flight interruptions) |
| SimConnect (MSFS) | Required for MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024. SimConnect is the official Microsoft interface that allows external applications to communicate with the simulator. See installation instructions below. |
| X-Plane | No additional software needed — uses the built-in UDP DataRef protocol |
SimConnect Installation (MSFS Users)
The Flight Logger uses SimConnect to communicate with Microsoft Flight Simulator. SimConnect is part of the MSFS SDK and must be installed on your system for the Logger to detect and connect to your simulator.
How to install SimConnect
- Navigate to your MSFS installation folder. Common locations:
- Steam:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator - MS Store:
C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official - MSFS 2024:
C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.Limitless_...or your custom install path
- Steam:
- Look for the SDK folder:
SDK\Core\SimConnect SDK\lib - Run
SimConnect.msifrom that folder to install the SimConnect client library. - Restart the Flight Logger after installation.
Installation Steps
- Visit jetstreamvirtual.com/logger and click Download for Windows.
- Run
JSV-Flight-Logger-Setup-1.12.1.exe. Windows SmartScreen may prompt you — click More info → Run anyway. - The install wizard walks you through setup:
- License Agreement — Read and accept the JetStream Virtual EULA.
- Install Location — Choose where to install (default is fine for most users).
- Install — Files are copied to your system.
- Finish — Tick “Run JSV Flight Logger” to launch immediately.
- A Start Menu shortcut is created automatically.
First Launch
- Open the Flight Logger from your Start Menu or desktop shortcut.
- Log in with your JetStream Virtual credentials (same email and password as the website).
- The Logger will automatically detect your simulator if it is running and SimConnect is installed.
- If the simulator is not detected, check that SimConnect is installed (MSFS) or that X-Plane’s UDP output is enabled.
Automatic Updates
The app checks for updates automatically — 10 seconds after launch and every 4 hours. When an update is available:
- It downloads silently in the background.
- A notification appears when the download is complete.
- The update installs when you quit the app (or you can install immediately from the notification).
You never need to manually download a new version.
Recent Changes
Version 1.12 was the largest update to the Flight Logger so far:
- Redesigned interface built around EFB and airline operations software. Navigation, flight status, simulator connectivity and the next required action are visible at a glance, and the Home screen is built around your next booked flight.
- Flight Briefing before you start logging, bringing route, weather, fuel, aircraft, readiness and SimBrief data together, with a preflight check.
- Logbook showing your recent JetStream Virtual flights with career statistics and per-PIREP block time, distance, fuel, aircraft and landing rate.
- Landing analysis in the post-flight report: distance from the threshold, distance from the centreline and your touchdown point on a runway diagram.
- Cabin announcements reworked with more natural crew voices, wording that varies between flights, and per-airline safety demonstration audio.
- Navigraph charts and SimBrief route display inside the app, plus airport photography throughout.
- Scheduled times and a departure countdown on booked flights, drawn from your duty roster.
