About TAP Portugal
TAP Portugal was founded in 1945 in Lisbon as Transportes Aereos Portugueses, initially flying to Madrid and colonial destinations in Africa. The flag carrier joined Star Alliance in 2005 and rebranded as TAP Air Portugal in 2017 while modernising its long-haul fleet.
TAP was the global launch operator of the Airbus A330-900neo in 2018 and flies an all-Airbus fleet from its Lisbon hub. Its network personality is distinctive: dense connections to Brazil, Portuguese-speaking Africa and North America, plus the Azores and Madeira, whose Funchal approach is a famous simulator challenge.
