Ryan Air Services was founded in 1953 at Unalakleet, Alaska, and has grown into one of the largest freight operators in the western part of the state. The company was acquired by Saltchuk in December 2022 and continues to trade as Ryan Air. It combines scheduled passenger flights with an extensive mail and cargo network.
Bases at Aniak, Bethel, Emmonak, Kotzebue, Nome, St. Mary's and Unalakleet reach more than seventy villages in the Alaskan bush. The fleet mixes Cessna 207s and Cessna 208 Caravans for passenger work with CASA 212s, Saab 340s and a Pilatus PC-12 used mainly for freight and mail runs.
