About China Airlines
China Airlines was founded in 1959 and is the flag carrier of Taiwan, based at Taoyuan International Airport near Taipei. From early regional flying it built a global passenger and cargo network, joined SkyTeam in 2011, and progressively renewed its image, adopting the plum blossom tail symbol in 1995.
Alongside passenger routes across Asia, North America, Europe and Oceania flown with A350-900s, 777-300ERs and A321neos, the airline runs one of the world's larger 747-400 freighter operations, now adding 777 freighters. Trans-Pacific cargo flying is central to its identity. Special liveries have included fruit-themed and Pokemon-style designs celebrating Taiwanese culture.
