About Volotea
Volotea was founded in 2011 by Carlos Munoz and Lazaro Ros, the entrepreneurs who had earlier created Vueling, and began flying in 2012. Its strategy from the start was different: connecting small and mid-sized European cities directly, avoiding congested main hubs.
Volotea began operations with Boeing 717s, one of Europe's last operators of the type, before transitioning to an all-Airbus A319 and A320 fleet. From bases across France, Italy, Spain and Greece it serves an unusual map of secondary cities, giving sim pilots routes rarely flown by other airlines.
