About Taquan Air

Taquan Air was founded in 1977 at Ketchikan in southeast Alaska and takes its name from a Tlingit clan of the region. It began by carrying loggers and mail to remote camps on Prince of Wales Island, then added scheduled village service and sightseeing flights over Misty Fiords National Monument. The airline is owned by Venture Travel.

Scheduled floatplane service runs from Ketchikan to Metlakatla, Hydaburg, Craig, Coffman Cove, Thorne Bay, Kasaan, Edna Bay, Point Baker, Port Protection and Whale Pass, several of them under Essential Air Service contract. The fleet consists of restored de Havilland DHC-2 Beavers and turbine powered DHC-3 Otters flying on floats.
