Helvetic Airways took its current name in 2003, emerging from the small Swiss start-up Odette Airways, and is based at Zurich. Owned by financier Martin Ebner, the airline moved from budget flying to a mixed model, combining its own scheduled and charter services with extensive wet-lease operations for Swiss International Air Lines.
Helvetic was an early European operator of the Embraer E2 and now flies an all-Embraer fleet of E190-E2s and E195-E2s. Much of its flying appears in Swiss colours on regional routes from Zurich, while its own aircraft handle Mediterranean charters and ad hoc missions, so the same airframes lead a double life.
